Paul and Lesley Mascall, a Sydney couple who ran an air-conditioning business have been found guilty of fraud, following an investigation under Project Wickenby. The couple attempted to avoid taxes by funnelling money through Vanuatu.
Business partner Paul Sewell has been found guilty of conspiracy to defraud the Commonwealth and has been sentenced to 2 years’ jail.
All 3 were clients of Lynette Liles the former president of the National Institute of Chartered Accountants who pleaded guilty in February to a series of tax shams amounting to more than $5 million in tax evasion. 26 people have now been convicted under Project Wickenby.
