Upstream Tax Advisor / Tax Manager – Perth

Responsibilities:

The purpose of the Upstream Tax Advisor role is to assist the tax group with direct and indirect tax advisory issues including income tax, PRRT, excise and royalty matters. The role also supports the Upstream Tax Manager in providing advice to the business and to work with Finance on tax reporting. Responsibilities will include:

• Research and advise on complex tax technical issues and provide updates on new tax legislation.
• Review tax assumptions in economic models on proposed transactions
• Under take due diligence on merger and acquisition related transactions
• Drafting of technical tax papers
• Balance sheet planning including new funding and dividends
• Liaise with counterparts in other jurisdictions on transactions that have cross-border implications.
• Manage and advise on PRRT tax compliance issues
• Review corporate tax returns and tax reporting

Experience and Technical Competencies:

• 6 years’ experience in Australian Tax, working within the tax division of a large accountancy practice and/or large corporate, preferably with upstream oil and gas tax experience.
• Commerce or Law degree and CA qualified
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to convey well-reasoned opinions.
• High attention to detail and accuracy and strong numerical and analytical skills
• Ability to tackle problems through to their resolution
• Self-motivated and proactive, with a hands-on approach
• Ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the organisation
